Canmore is a fantastic destination for hiking enthusiasts with its stunning landscapes and diverse trails.

With many hiking trails for all levels of hikers, from easy strolls to challenging climbs, Canmore has it all. Whether you want to hike to the top of a big mountain or take a relaxing walk by a lake, there's something for everyone. Each trail is special in its own way, with exciting wildlife sightings and peaceful spots to enjoy.

Must-Do Hikes in Canmore
1. Grassi Lakes Trail is a popular and accessible hike near Canmore, suitable for families and casual hikers. The trail has two options: an easy, gravel path and a more challenging rocky trail. Highlights include:
- Two turquoise lakes at the end
- Scenic views of the Bow Valley and Canmore
- Picturesque forests with wildflowers in summer
- Well-marked and well-maintained trail, making it easy for families and beginners
2. Ha Ling Peak is a challenging hike with a steep climb, perfect for experienced hikers. The trail has rocky and steep sections, but the views from the top are breathtaking, with panoramic views of Canmore, the Bow Valley, and even Banff National Park on clear days.

3. The East End of Rundle (EEOR) hike is a challenging trail that's popular among locals and visitors. It's known for its steep climb, but the views from the top are breathtaking. You'll hike up through the forest and rocky areas, with spectacular views of Canmore and the Bow Valley opening up as you go. Keep an eye out for wildlife like bighorn sheep and mountain goats along the way!

Before you head out:
- Plan your hike by choosing a trail that suits your fitness level and checking the weather forecast
- Dress in layers, wear good shoes, and pack essentials like water, snacks, a first aid kit, map, and GPS
While hiking:
- Respect wildlife by keeping a safe distance and following bear safety guidelines
- Stay on marked paths and follow signs to avoid getting lost
- Leave no trace by packing out your trash and being considerate of nature
- Start your hike early to avoid crowds and have enough daylight
In case of an emergency:
- Tell someone your hiking plans and expected return time
- Have a way to call for help, such as a phone or whistle
- Be prepared to turn back if you're not making good time
Remember to listen to your body and know your limits, taking breaks when needed and not pushing yourself too hard. By following these tips, you can have a safe and enjoyable hike in Canmore!
